What actually causes a "turkey neck"?
Usually three things in combination: skin that has lost collagen and elasticity, fat that has accumulated beneath the chin, and the two vertical platysma muscle bands becoming more visible with age. Sun exposure, genetics and weight changes all contribute. Which of the three dominates is what determines your treatment.
Can it be improved without surgery?
In many cases, yes — particularly for mild to moderate skin laxity and texture. Non-surgical approaches work best when there is still reasonable skin quality to respond to. When there is significant excess skin, non-surgical treatment can soften the appearance but will not match what a surgical procedure achieves, and we’ll say so rather than sell you sessions that won’t deliver.
How long does treatment take?
Most in-clinic sessions run between 30 and 60 minutes. Plans typically involve more than one session spaced several weeks apart. Your exact schedule is set at your consultation.
When will I see results?
It depends on the approach. Treatments that work by stimulating collagen build gradually over roughly eight to twelve weeks. Others show change sooner. Your provider will give you a realistic timeline before you commit to anything.
What is recovery like?
This varies with your plan. Many neck treatments involve little to no downtime beyond temporary redness, swelling or tenderness. Anything with a longer recovery is explained fully in advance, in writing, so you can plan around work and events.
Is it painful?
Most patients describe the sensation as tolerable — warmth, pressure or brief stinging depending on the treatment. Topical numbing is used where appropriate. Comfort options are discussed at your consultation.
